The magazine is printed every six months by the Publishing House of the Information Center on Medical Sciences in Ciego de Avila.

Founded in 1995, MediCiego is aimed at health professionals and technicians, although its articles are of interest for general readers as well.

The magazine publishes original articles on all medical specialties, including Stomatology, Nursing, Hygiene and Epidemiology, and Medical Pedagogy.

The commission of the Academy of Sciences that granted the award also acknowledged the work of another 14 Cuban magazines.
