The island"s head of State also laid another wreath at the bronze sculpture erected in the hall central part, and dedicated a minute"s silence for millions of victims of the victory against fascism (1941-1945).
After signing of the museum"s book of visitors, the statesman said that there is no word to express the giant sacrifice of all states that made up the former Soviet Union, especially this Russian people"s contribution, he stressed.
He praised the institution"s role to maintain the memory of those who fell for current and future generations.
Raul Castro also visited other halls of the museum, with a 156,07-square foot exhibition area, including the photo display dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the Cuban Revolution, by TASS agency correspondent in Cuba Nikolai Chiguir.
The Caribbean statesman arrived in Russia Wednesday on an official visit, invited by his peer Dmitri Medvedev, with whom he will meet in the Kremlin January 30.
Friday"s agenda includes official talks between both presidents, a meeting with the delegations from the two countries, and the signing of a series of documents on several cooperation issues.
