ADAI was founded at the 8th Ibero-American Summit in Oporto, Portugal, to help consolidate the Ibero-American community, foment regional integration, human resource training and multilateral collaboration.
The meeting gathers directors from Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Chile, Costa Rica, Cuba, Spain, Mexico, Panama, Peru, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Uruguay and El Salvador.
The Archive of the Republic of Cuba, one of the oldest in Latin America, was founded January 28, 1840, the fifth in Latin America after Argentina (1821), Mexico (1823), Bolivia (1825) and Brazil (1838).
