Its director, Lázara Herrera announced to the press that the festival, apart from celebrating its first decade, will also coincide with the 90th anniversary of the birth of the maker of Now.
The event foresees a theoretical seminar and several parallel exhibitions, one of them dedicated to the recently deceased director Humberto Solas and Octavio Cortázar.
There will also be screened several segments of the Latin American ICAIC News Report that directed by Álvarez, collected several key moments in the history of countries such as Chile, Angola and Vietnam.
Founded in 1960, the News report was nominated by UNESCO to enter into the registry of Memory of the World.
At the same time as the official awards, the TV broadcasting channel Telesur will distinguish the best documentary made by a Latin American with a diploma and five thousand dollars.
