Doctor Susana Tellez, head of the center, told ACN news agency that during 2008 the work of its health promoters contributed to a reduction of infant mortality to 2.7, the lowest rate in the province's history.
However, Dr. Tellez said the courses taught were still weak as was the working relationship between the local mass organizations and the primary health services.
She explained that the among the projects being undertaken by the centers for health education in Cuba are those of preventing smoking addiction, haemorrhagic dengue and TB, and offering orientation services for the population.
