Unlike previous years, two extra kilometers were added to the oldest race in Uruguay, in addition to the traditional uphill race to the San Antonio hill.
Some 3,000 athletes took part in the 64th edition of the competition, which the Cuban runners won for the first time.
In the men's race, the runner-up was Argentina's Gustavo Comba (31.20 minutes), followed by Uruguay's Andrés Zamora (31.48) and Alexander de los Santos (32.02).
In the women's category, the runner-up was Argentina's Elisa Cobanea, followed by Uruguay's Camila de Melo, Claudia Ramírez and Marisol Redon.
