During her four-day stay in Havana, Ms. Bachelet is scheduled to hold talks with Cuban President Raul Castro. She may also meet with former leader Fidel Castro.

Ms. Bachelet is traveling with a large delegation of business leaders, cultural figures and government officials. The visitors include Chilean Foreign Minister Alejandro Foxley and the ministers of culture and agriculture.

The last Chilean president to visit Cuba was socialist leader Salvador Allende, who considered Fidel Castro a friend.

Before traveling to Cuba, Ms. Bachelet visited Honduras where she signed education, technology and science pacts.
