Dayron Robles, Olympic champion and world record holder in the 110-meter hurdles, injured a muscle in his left thigh during the eliminatory rounds of the Liévin, France indoor track and field meet.

The 22-year-old sprinter from Guantánamo had sat out earlier competitions in Sweden and Germany for a similar injury but assured on Monday that he was ready to race, reported AFP.

During the 60-meter hurdles, Robles slowed down his pace after the second hurdle and finished visibly in pain behind Bahamian Shamar Sands, who finished first with a time of 7.49 seconds, followed by French Ladji Doucouré (7.52) and Russian Yevgeniy Borisov (7.54).

After rumors circulated Europe about a possible injury, JR spoke with the national sports commissioner, Esteban Brice, who said at the time that Dayron had some problems but felt ok after treatment at the Frank País Hospital in Havana.
