More than 2,000 wind machines are currently being used to pull up water for farm animals, in particular cattle.
Other actions taken in the province to introduce renewable energy sources for the generation of electricity are the use of 149 photovoltaic cell units to capture the sun's heat and generate electricity; 39 biogas-producing plants have been set up, while biomass energy is used for power in sugar mills.
