During the ceremony at the Cuban Embassy on the occasion of Moiseev´s 70th birthday, Valdes highlighted the outstanding and worthy work performed by the army general in the defense of the Cuban Revolution and its achievements.
Valdes emphasized that Moiseev's attitude towards Cuba, which has been acknowledged by the Cuban leaders, reflects the friendship between the Cuban and Russian peoples.
The diplomat mentioned that Moiseev was the USSR Deputy Minister of Defense from 1988 to August 1991, and later General Inspector of this entity. In 2008 he was elected president of Russia's Army Veterans General Social Organization.
The retired General thanked the Cuban government, noting the honor that receiving the Order of Solidarity represents in this special time in the relations between the two nations.
