Romero added that the opening ceremony will include a key lecture entitled 'World Energy Trends and their Environmental Implications' by Dr. Ramon Pichs Madruga, Deputy Director of the Cuban Center for Research on World Economy.
Last September, Pichs Madruga was appointed as co-president of the 3rd Working Group of the Intergovernmental Panel of Experts on Climate Change, to which Cuba has belonged since 1997.
The program of 2nd Cuban Congress on Local Development includes seven workshops in which delegates will discuss Local Development, Sustainable Agriculture and Plant Biotechnology, Health and Animal Production.
They will also analyze other topics such as Distance Learning, Enterprise Management and Direction, and Agricultural Engineering, among others.
