"The program for the event includes congresses on Geology, Geophysics, Mining and others that are important for the development of Earth Sciences in Cuba," said Manuel Iturralde, President of the Cuban Geology Society.

According to Granma news daily, one of the main lectures on the program will focus on the theme of Geological Medicine, which aims at studying rocks, minerals, water, soils and plants in order to determine the existence of substances that can be harmful for human beings and agriculture.

Among other topics, Cuban delegates will talk about their experiences in the sustainable use of natural resources.
