Tonight Lara knocked out Keith Gross (3-1, 1 KO) with a wicked straight left hand that sent Gross to the canvas in the first round. After Gross made it to his feet, he was sent flying again by another Lara left and the referee stopped the fight.

The 25-year-old Cuban has only four fights, but in the two this writer has seen he is a prospect to watch. Against limited opposition, Lara has shown nice hand speed, left-handed power, and technical soundness. His maturity and presence surpass the level of his competition.

The 154-pound division -- void of any true excitement in recent years -- might have a star rising; keep on eye on Lara as he works up the ranks on the under card of Yuriorkis Gamboa's fights.
