Indiana's Republican Senator's opinions are attached to a report that will be released this Monday, said AFP according to a Granma report. This could boost a discussion about the failed 50 year U.S policy to isolate Cuba, said the French news agency.

The White House has imposed a full economic blockade on Cuba since 1962. However, "the report due out Monday stops short of recommending an end to the US embargo (blockade)," the Washington Post noted.

The same source says Richard Lugar supports lifting the Bush administration's travel restrictions and remittances to Cuba, as well as restoring bilateral cooperation on drug interdiction and migrations. The Senator also backs allowing Cuba to buy US agricultural products on credit.
