During the meeting, held at he higher education center to mark the 50th anniversary of the Cuban Revolution, Ricardo Alarcon briefly addressed Cuba’s history since the beginning of the independence wars back in 1868.

The nearly-50-year US economic, financial and commercial blockade against Cuba, which is the main cause of the limitations undergone by country, was at the center of the exchange between the students and Ricardo Alarcon.

Responding to questions raised by the students on the ongoing revolutionary processes in Latina America, Alarcon pointed out that the core of 21st Century Socialism is the plurality of projects in every nation, without dogmas or hegemonies.

The Cuban Parliament President also defended the debate of ideas as a way to improve the organization of society.
