In the letter, they demand the end of US economic sanction on Cuba and the release of the Five Cubans unfairly held in US prisons for the past 10 years.

The letter was made public at the closing session of the event on Friday evening by the Vice-president of the Mexican Senate.

The signatories urged President Obama to review the US policy towards Cuba in a true spirit of change.

They say that in so doing Obama would be making a historical contribution to the tolerant and democratic spirit that inspired America's founding fathers. And, that it would also be fulfilling of his vows of an Era of Change.
