Ramon Labañino wrote the message on behalf of his comrades Fernando Gonzalez, Antonio Guerrero, Rene Gonzalez and Gerardo Hernandez and addressed it to the delegates attending the 8th Congress of the Federation of Cuban Women (FMC) being held in Havana since Saturday.

The Cuban Five, as they are internationally known, were arrested in September, 1998 in Miami, where they were monitoring anti-Cuba terrorist groups.

After a biased trial, they were sentenced to harsh prison terms.

The message from the Cuban Five was read by Aili Labañino, Ramon´s daughter, who is a delegate to the Congress.

The text urges Cuban women to firmly fulfill the different tasks they carry out at home or at work.

Ramon also thanked the four million members of the FMC for their solidarity.
