Fernandez stressed that collaboration is indispensable to face the economic, financial, environmental, social and food crisis that has worsened poverty and marginalization of millions.
"Cuba states that the right to food is a vital current issue. My delegation shares the call to boost international cooperation to fight starvation," he noted.
The diplomat stressed that the rapporteur's proposal is an interest to adequately revalue the Agreement on Food Support.
"The increasing disparity among South and North countries hinders effective execution of the right to food in developing countries, particularly for the most vulnerable sectors," he pointed out.
The Cuban ambassador stated that the need to overcome starvation and malnutrition must determine the amount of assistance, which must not be subjected to conditions, trade criteria or political interests.
