Cuban Vice President Visits a Post-Hurricane Isla de la Juventud

Machado Ventura spoke to the press about the hard work carried out by the people from the island during the recovery process, especially in the sector if housing and social facility construction, and agriculture, seriously damaged by the Hurricanes Ike and Gustav.
In a meeting with agriculture officials, Ventura briefed them on the increase of farmlands and encouraged them to boost vegetable production.
Machado Ventura also spoke of the need to increase local production of construction materials.
He said that the Cuban government is confident in the capacity of the residents of Isla de la Juventud to overcome obstacles and spoke of the importance of having all sectors united and organized in post-hurricane production and recovery activities.
