She praised the support she received from researcher Martha Valdés, while trying to locate the works by Cuban women authors, some of which were included in Sara’s previous CD, released in 2003 by the record company Bis Music, as well as in this new CD. She stressed that there is plenty of material to record a third CD in the future.
Unlike the first CD, this second work is more colorful, since it covers many different music genres. The first CD dedicated to Cuban women was almost entirely devoted to works by some women exponents of the trova movement.
The new CD ‘Cantos de Mujer’ was presented on March 12th at the Havana-based Astral movie theatre. It includes several Cuban classic pieces like ‘Yo soy el punto cubano’ by Celina González, ‘Eclipse’ by Margarita Lecuona, ‘Nada sin mis brazos’ by Eia O. Farril, ‘Tristeza’ by Beatriz Márquez, ‘Quizás un bolero’ by Lourdes Torres, ‘Que falta de respeto’ by Alina Torres and ‘No serás de mi’ by Grecia Domenech.
Other pieces include also ‘Flores para tu altar’ by Julia Ana, ‘Tus ojos y la ciudad’ by Niuska Miniet, ‘Será tu condena’ by María A. Gómez and ‘Por todo gracias’ by Sara González.
