Couples from different countries to dance danzón in Cuba

According to José Loyola, president of the Organizing Committee, the danzón event every year the festival will be dedicated to a Mexican city, specially related to the musical genre born in Cuba 130 years ago which was extended afterwards to Mexican land with sounding success.
The international danzón dance competition will be hold in the Julián del Casal Culture House, also known as the Fraternal Union Society, found in Old Havana, a region declared World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
Under the accords of the best danzón orchestras from Cuba and Mexico , the contestants will perform the dance and choreographies in front of a jury presided over by the renowned dancer and choreographer Juan García.
The announcement is open for one couple from any nationality who wish to participate in the event with the awards in three categories: children (up to 14 years), youth (15 to 35 years) and older (more than 35 years).
There will also be a Great Award and every participant will receive a diploma from the Organizing Committee.
At the same time there will also be taught a workshop of Cuban dances called: From contradanza to danzón , from danzón to cha cha cha and salsa, by Professors Julio Miñoso, first dancer from the Traditional Cuban Dances Company and Siria Roble, solo dancer.
There will also be other dancers from Cuban dance offering conferences on the theme.
