With the signing of this document, Cuba has now signed this kind of agreement with all member states of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM).
The accord was penned by the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of the Bahamas, Brent Symonette, and the Cuban Ambassador in Nassau, Jose Luis Ponce.
During the signing ceremony, Symonette announced that both countries will continue working to further develop bilateral cooperation in the education sector. In this regard, he praised the contribution of more than 60 Cuban teachers that have worked in public schools in the Bahamas over the last five years.
He also referred to another agreement to resume the Operation Miracle free eye-surgery program and recalled that almost 500 low-income citizens of his country benefited from this program in its first stage.
Finally, he stressed that relations between Cuba and the Bahamas are excellent at the moment and they will continue to get better.
