Cuba Lures French Visitors in MAP Fair

Although Latin America and the Caribbean will be represented by Mexico, Brazil, Dominican Repúblic, Jamaica, Venezuela and Ecuador, Cuba will focus on seducing more French travelers.
The first action of the island in the MAP will be the “Soirée the Cuban Night” which will have as venue the Salons des Vedettes, a barge on the Seine a few meters away from the Tower Eiffel, where a workshop of tourism professionals is to take place.
Six French cities will be on the focus of the Round “Viva Cuba”. Besides Paris, Nantes, Tolouse, Marseille, Nice and Lyon will be included from March 23.
Gilberto Lopez, representative in France of Cuban Ministry of Tourism (MINTUR), told Prensa Latina that his country received last year two million 348 thousand 340 visitors. Lopez admitted that due to the impact of three hurricanes, the number of French tourists dropped by two percent, with a total of 90,731 visitors.
A special design of the road show kind, will put 15 Cuban specialists on the way to visit the cities mentioned to contact about 140 travel agents and clients as well as 50 specialized journalists.
Besides the MINTUR representation, the caravan will have the presence of Cubanacan, Islazul, Cubatur, Gran Caribe, Sol Melia Cuba, Iberostar, Gaviota, Cubana de Aviacion, Havanatour and Sol y Son.
