The concert will be held on May 3rd at Madison Square Garden in New York with the title The Clearwater Concert: Creating the Next Generation of Environmental Leaders .

"This one-of-a-kind concert will benefit and create awareness about the Hudson River Sloop Clearwater organization, founded by Pete Seeger, who still fights to preserve and protect the Hudson River," the organizers said on last Wednesday in a press release.

Seeger, legendary folk singer, political activist and avid environmentalist, has sought to inspire social changes through his music. He created the organization of environmental protection in 1966.

Other artists who have confirmed their participation are Joan Baez, Ben Harper, Ani DiFranco, Michael Franti, Emmylou Harris, Tao Rodriguez-Seeger, Taj Mahal and Keller Williams.
