The program includes the Central American zonal tournament, at which two male players will qualify for the World Cup in Russia and one female player will qualify for the 2010 World Championship.

Male players will also take part in the Pan-American Championship by teams, scheduled from June 20-25 in Brazil, where one player will qualify for the world championship by teams in Turkey this year.

The Cuban chess players will also participate in the continental individual championship in El Salvador, where seven players will qualify for the World Cup.

The program of competitions will conclude with the women's continental tournament from September 1-7 in the Colombian city of Cali, where one player will qualify for the world cup.
