Federation officials pointed out that the tournament is aimed at promoting softball, which might be included in the Olympics, in the Caribbean region.

Participants in the games might include Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, Venezuela and Panama, just to mention some.

The tournament will follow regulations established by national federations and special provisions of the Cuban rules, including the participation of 20 players per team.
