Minister of Culture Abel Prieto presented the decoration to Brazilian Leonor Amarante, Chilean Nelly Richard, French-Canadian Herve Fischer (image) and Spaniard Enrique Martinez Murillo (Quique), all participating in the 10th Havana Bienial.

The awardees reaffirmed their solidarity with the Cuban people and expressed gratitude for the important decoration in a ceremony attended by Prima Ballerina Assoluta Alicia Alonso, director of the National Ballet of Cuba.

Fischer inaugurated an exposition at the Wifredo Lam Center and Richard, an outstanding art critic and theorist, attended an event dedicated to the Casa de las Americas held at the show.

Amarante is very prestigious in Brazilian arts circles, and Quique excels for promoting Cuban arts, especially the Cuban National Ballet School.
