Cuba, Venezuela, Bolivia, Ecuador and Colombia have the largest delegations at this year’s competitions
The Third Bolivarian Alternatives for the Americas Games (ALBA) gets underway on Wednesday across Cuba bringing together some 2,300 athletes from 26 nations with a focus on cooperation and integration.
During a press conference, the director of Planning at the National Institute of Sport, Physical Education and Recreation (INDER), Manuel Trobajo, said that the opening event will take place Wednesday tomorrow at 4:00 p.m. with competitions beginning on Thursday.
Venezuela has the largest visiting delegation with more than 600 athletes competing in all 30 events, followed by Bolivia, Ecuador and Colombia.
National Boxing Association President José Barrientos spoke about the large number of boxers at this year’s event. Cuba will field two teams.
