Saint Vincent and the Grenadines Prime Minister Ralph Gonsalves told participants that his country is ready and willing to participate as a full ALBA member, while he requested the corresponding authorities to exchange the necessary documents to complete the process of incorporating the people of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines into this regional mechanism of integration and solidarity, Prensa Latina news agency reported.
Gonsalves said that on February 2007, three countries from the Caribbean community (Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica, and Saint Vincent and the
Grenadines) signed on to the principles of ALBA. Dominica has already joined the regional bloc and now Saint Vincent and the Grenadines are ready to do the same.
Gonsalves commended the analysis of the world economic crisis made during the Seventh ALBA Summit, and said that his country supports the proposals made during this meeting in this regard.
ALBA is a strategic response to the difficulties faced in the world, especially in this part of the hemisphere. In this context its organic integration helps to strengthen each country.
