In fact, Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez told delegates at the Fifth Summit that the next meeting should be held in Cuba.
Cuba has been suspended as a member of the OAS since 1962, and is not eligible to participate in Summits of the Americas, and can only host the conference if the suspension has been lifted.
According to a reliable source, Panama is likely to be chosen to host the conference.
Selection of the host country should be done at the next regular meeting of the OAS
The recently concluded meeting in Port of Spain has been successful in terms of arrangements, friendly atmosphere, and dialogue, but the 34 leaders failed to agree on all the terms of the Declaration and as such, a "Compromise" document was signed by Chairman of the Summit, Trinidad and Tobago Prime Minister, Patrick Manning.
