The speakers acknowledged the importance of NAM, the efficient work carried out by Cuba during its mandate and the excellent organization of the ministerial meeting.
The Egyptian representative gave detailed and valuable information on the preparations in his country to hold the 15th NAM Summit at the locality of Sharm el-Sheikh, next July.
Ban Ki-moon, Secretary General of the United Nations sent a greetings message to the meeting, which was read by his representative Haile Menkeiros.
The UN Secretary General underscored the serious world situation caused by the economic and financial crisis and he called on Non-Aligned countries to participate in coordinated response towards a common view on the phenomenon. “We should strengthen collective action and that includes the High-Level UN Conference on the economic and financial crisis and its impact on development, to be held in New York next June 1-3.”
