The Artscape Opera House from Cape Town was full when it greeted the dancers and their teachers. The opening of the event was followed by a reception where the Cuban dance group received once again much applause.
The present press and art critics had praiseworthy words for the dancers who placed very highly once again the name of Cuba.
During the presentation of the first performance, the Director of the International Ballet Competition from Cape Town, Mr Dirk Badenhorst expressed “… what you will see tonight is an example of what you may achieve when there is political will. The Cuban government, first directed by Fidel Castro and afterwards by his brother Raúl has taken care to teach their young people but also that every single one may achieve their dreams, which in this case it is to dance.”
