A Cuban National Hero Jose Marti’s Bust Unveiled in Senegal

Ndiaye highlighted Marti’s works as a journalist, a poet and a revolutionary, who organized the last Cuban Independence war from the Spanish colonialism in the 19th century.
The Dean also urged the students attending the event to deepen their knowledge about the Cuban Hero’s works and thoughts, as well as in the history of other Cuban figures like Antonio Maceo and Carlos Manuel de Cespedes.
Meanwhile the Cuban Ambassador read an essay written by researcher Cintio Vitier named “De donde crece la palma” about Marti’s life.The bust will remain at the Roman Languages and Civilization Department till the works at the new Humanities Faculty is finished and a pedestal is erected at the Marti Center.
