Robles has been away from the track after injuring his left thigh during a February 10 meet in Lievin, France that was supposed to mark his summer debut.
Since then he has undergone rigorous medical treatment at the Frank Pais Hospital in Havana and has begun to use special running shoes to lessen the pain from his medical condition of flat feet.
The 22-year-old sensation from Guantanamo won gold at the 2008 Beijing Olympics with a time of 12:93 and set a world record of 12:87 on June 12, 2008 in Ostrava, Czechoslovakia.
That same year, Robles ran 5 additional events under 13 seconds: 12:88 in Saint Denis, France; 12:91 in Stockholm, Sweden; 12:95 in Dubnica, Slovakia; 12:96 in Villeneuve, France; and 12:97 in Zurich, Switzerland. In all, Dayron chalked up 12 victories in 14 competitions.
