Bust of Film Maker Humberto Solas unveiled in Holguin

The bust of Solas, considered a leading figure of the Seventh Art in Cuba, will join at the Café Tres Lucias cultural site, the images of actresses who played main roles in his films.
The statue of Solas, director of the film “Un hombre de exito (1985) which was the first Cuban movie to be nominated to the Oscar prizes, also joins the images of other departed film makers like Tomas Gutierrez Alea and Santiago Alvarez, who were founders of the Cuban Film Institute (ICAIC).
The 9th National Audiovisual Festival titled “Por primera vez” (For the First Time) will run until June 20 and it will be attended by film makers from 10 Cuban provinces.
Documentaries, short fiction films, videos and cartoons will be part of the event, along with theoretical initiatives at the building hosting the Cuban Union of Artists and Writers in the eastern province.
