Colombian Mining Minister Hernan Martinez will start today a working visit to Cuba that includes meeting with Cuban Basic Industry Minister Yadira Garcia.

  Martinez said the meeting is aimed at tightening bilateral energy ties and hinted that the Colombian company ECOPETROL may engage in offshore oil exploration at the Caribbean island.

He is accompanied by Javier Gutierrez, president of ECOPETROL which hopes to rank among the world top petrochemical companies by 2015 with its oil, gas and alternative fuel productions.
