Portugal and Cuba signed here on Tuesday a declaration of strengthening cooperation in a bid to enhance relations between the two countries.
Portuguese Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Joao Gomes Cravinho signed the declaration with Cuban Deputy Foreign Minister Dagoberto Rodriguez.
Cravinho, who has been in Cuba on a visit since Monday, said the two countries have great potential for enhancing relations in all fields and will strengthen economic cooperation.
He said the two countries are especially interested in cooperation in tourism, biotechnology and renewable energy.
"We should bring more tourists to Cuba," Cravinho said, adding that 25,000 Portuguese traveled to the Caribbean country in 2008.
He also said the two countries are moving forward in cooperation in pharmaceutical research.
