Cuba: Robles Conquers Rome

Cuban 110 meter hurdler Dayron Robles, Beijing Olympic champion and world record holder, won one of the Athletics Golden League stages, this time in Rome, Italy.
Once again, Robles showed his good shape after recovering from an injury and clocked 13.17 seconds, enough to defeat the US squad Antwon Hicks (13.22), Dexter Faulk (13.30) and Aries Merritt (13.42), while his team- mate Dayron capetillo placed seventh with 13.76.
This was the fifth consecutive victory for the Caribbean athlete this season, when he remains undefeated, since he had won previously in Thesalonica with 13.30, Ostrava with 13.04 (best world mark this year), Havana and Laussane, both with 13.18.
Other winners on Friday were Bahamian Chris Brown in the 400 meters with 44.41 secs, US Tyson Gay with 9.77 in 100 , Ethipian Kenisa Bekele in 5000 meters with a 12.56.23 minutes and Norwegian javelin thrower Andreas Thorkildsen, with a 87.46 meter shot.
In the female event the most outstanding feats were to Olympic champion and world record holder Russian Elena Isinbayeva with a 4.85 jump.
