Cuba and China Build Up their Cooperation Biotechnology

Cuba and China have renewed for another five years the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for cooperation in the field of biotechnology, which is a sign of its positive development, the Prensa Latina news agency reports.
In a friendly atmosphere, the two leaders agreed on the satisfactory execution of the programs carried out so far in biotechnology, as well as on its importance for the economic and social development of their respective nations.
They also said that conditions are created for cooperation to be intensified and taken to the next level.
Parallel to this meeting, they recalled, the 5th Meeting of the Joint Working Group for Cooperation in Biotechnology is underway in Kunming, the capital city of Yunnan province, which will run until September 9.
The meeting is aimed at assessing the plans of the years that have elapsed since the signing of the first MOU, penned in 2004 during the official visit to Cuba of Chinese President Hu Jintao, with the purpose of planning for the next five years.
Cabrisas and Zhang Ping also talked about possibilities of expanding exchanges into the field of renewable energy sources, energy saving and topics related to high technology.
The Cuban Vice-President arrived in China for a seven-day working visit, which began in Beijing and that will take him to other Chinese cities.
