Ricardo Alacón Meets with Russian Legislators

Ricardo Alarcon, the Cuban Parliament President met with the Vice President of the Russian Federation’s State Duma (lower house) Ivan Ivanovich Mielnikov, currently on a visit to our country at the invitation of the island’s National Assembly.the meeting was held on Thursday night.
The meeting between Mielnikov, who is also First Vice President of the Central Committee of the Russian Communist Party, and Alarcon was held in an open and cordial atmosphere in the framework of the excellent relations developed by the two parliaments.
Earlier that same day, Vice President of the Council of Ministers, Ricardo Cabrisas, received the distinguished visitor and his accompanying delegation. In the afternoon, the Russian parliamentarians met with Cuban Minister of the Basic Industry
Yadira Garcia. During the meetings, both sides exchanged opinions on major cooperation projects between the two countries and agreed to continue working on the strengthening of bilateral ties.
According to Granma daily, Mielnikov and his accompanying delegation arrived in our country on November 2nd. The program of activities scheduled for them includes meetings with several representatives of government and state entities as well as visits to places of historic and social interest.
Also present during the meetings were First Vice President of the
Duma Committee for transportation issues and member of the United Russia faction, Vladimir Vitalievich Klimenkov; member of the Duma Committee for information policy, technological information and communications --also member of the faction of
Russia’s Liberal and Democratic Party-- Serguei Vladimirovich Ivanov, and Vladimir Chikunov, who is the chief of Malenkov’s Secretariat.
