Cuban movie awarded in Latin Film Festival in Uruguay

The award was shared with the Venezuelan film exhibition.
An exhibition of Cuban films in Uruguay received the 2009 LATINUY based on the quality and contributions made by the selection.
The award was announced at the closing ceremony of the Latin Film Festivalin Uruguay, that was held at the Punta del Este resort, with the participation as well of Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay and the host country.
The Cuban films present at the Festival were El Benny, by José Luis Sánchez; Retrato de Teresa (A portrait of Teresa), by Pastor Vega; the cartoon Vampiros en La Habana (Vampires in Havana), by Juan Padrón, and the documentary Destinos (Destinies)
and Montañas de Luz (Mountains of Light), by Guillermo Centeno.
Fernando Goldsman, president of the event’s organizing committee, described it as a great success due to the remarkable attendance of public and the presence of renowned figures of this sector.
“Our projection for its second edition in 2010, and we are betting in a quality cinema that represents all the diversity of our Latin identity”, underscored Goldsman, who confirmed that the event will take place annually.
The LATINUY went also to Argentineans Mónica Galán, Eduardo Spagnuolo and Paula de Luque.
