Cuba Updates Seismologic System with Chinese Help

The agreement, signed this Tuesday in the Asian country, is part of a donation granted to Cuba by the Chinese government that includes the supplying of high sensitivity seismographs, radio plants to communicate through voice, portable stations for seismic engineering studies, among others.
In a ceremony presided over by Carlos Miguel Pereira Hernández, Cuban ambassador to Beijing, thanked the gesture, of great socioeconomic impact, reported the Cuban Foreign Affairs Ministry’s website.
Doctor Bladimir Moreno, CENAIS director, explained that the new equipment will allow them to determine automatically the location and magnitude of each seismic event in Cuba.
The companies that subscribe the agreement for both parties were Beijing Gangzhen Mechanical & Electronic Technology Co. Ltd (GEODEVICE), and the Donation Ejecutor (EMED) from China and Cuba, respectively.
