Sergio Gonzalez Ballard, chosen among the ten best athletes in the eastern province of Holguin last 2009, is a member of the Cuban beach volleyball team, senior category, in spite of being only 19 years old.

This tall athlete belongs to the country’s second squad in this hard and demanding sport, and in 2009 played in internationally contest for the first time, winning two silver medals and a gold one in the North and Central America and the Caribbean circuit (NORCECA).

Talkative and strong for the beach volleyball, Sergio praises his team members, who have talent and a promising future, he says.

The NORCECA circuit is among the most important commitments for Cuban beach volleyball this 2010, it gives some berths for the London 2012 Olympic Games, but also the Central American Caribbean Games to take place in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico.

Sergio Gonzalez Ballard has dreams; therefore, he wants to reach some medals in both competitions, although in the case of  the competition in Puerto Rico he would attend it if Cuba sends two squads, something quite probable, but yet to be confirmed.
