The presentation will essentially show the NSO playing some of Ernan’s works orchestrated by Sanchez Pardo. Lopez-Nussa has said his project is a "novel way to do a concert, because it is not my trio accompanied by the Symphony, but a joint effort."
Ernan said he chose out of his repertoire the pieces that better fit the Symphony and both had that melodic and rhythmic nuance, as Momo, Velo de Novia—song of the film La noche de los inocentes—, and Danzan—written for ballet.
The renowned pianist stated to Cubasí that this concert is something "unusual" because what always happens is the orchestra accompanying the jazz man. However, we now present an arrangement for the orchestra and it will work as a jazz band".
So in order to make things perfect for Sunday, we tried to invite to stage percussionists Enrique Pla and Yaroldis Abreu as well as bassist Gaston Joya.
Thus, everything is going to be a huge party. Ernan says it is very important for him "and those musicians who perform jazz to prepare a concert with the NSO. It is for the orchestra itself, because it expands its repertoire. We feel at home”.
The record label company Colibrí will record the concert to present it later on DVD format, material directed by filmmaker Rolando Almirante.
