The ninth Sample of New Filmmakers of ICAIC will take place as it has been already announced from February 23-28.

This time, the great party of new cinema will be dedicated to the work and memory of director Humberto Solas. During this time works of the filmmaker will be on ran -documentary films and fiction -, others in which he collaborated, as well as materials made on the outstanding Cuban director.   

The Sample, for the second year in a row will be headed by the famous filmmaker Fernando Perez. The director of Life is Whistling and Suite Havana was summoned once more by the organizers of the event, given his open concern for the development
of new talents of the domestic cinema and audiovisual materials.    

In information for DIGITAL ICAIC, the restless team that directs the Sample communicated that 124 works were presented in the different categories. The chosen works -always according to the source - will be known late on that week or earlier in the
next one.    

The jury of the event will be chaired by the film director Ernesto Daranas (The Broken Gods) who will also be in charge of the specialty of Direction; and integrated by Nanette Garcia, in the specialty of Art Direction; Angelica Salvador, specialty Edition; Ernesto Piña, in the specialty Animation, and X Alfonso, attending the specialty Music.    

Lastly, it was known that the display of films of the Sample that differs from its official inauguration, will take place in January 23, at 2:00 p.m., in Chaplin Theatre, with the work Chamaco, of filmmaker Juan Carlos Cremata.
