Di Celmo told Juventud Rebelde that when he heard the news about Cuba's inclusion on U.S. list of terror-sponsor countries he told himself: "This is the most colossal lie, sacrilege and slander the U.S. government has ever said about Cuba."
He said his opinion is shared by committees of solidarity with Cuba and against terrorism that are named after his son Fabio di Celmo all over the world.
The young Italian lost his life at 32 when a bomb was blown up at the Copacabana Hotel in Havana on September 4, 1997. The terrorist act was part of a terror campaign against Cuba unleashed from the United States.
Di Celmo emphasized that throughout half a century, Cuba has shown to be in favour of peace and harmony and its foreign policy has been based on the respect to other nations and the political regimes ruling the world.
Moreover, he wonders: "How could they accuse Cuba as a sponsor of terrorists while they keep a blockade that is genocide and therefore constitutes State terrorism?"
Di Celmo denounced that U.S. terrorist policy has taken a toll on close to 4,000 people in Cuba and some 2,000 injured.
"However, Cuba is not looking for revenge, but asking for justice, like I do for the death of my 32-year-old son," he pointed out.
