The earthquake turned the Haitian capital and other areas of the country into ruins, and has brought inconsolable pain and mourning to the citizens of that sister nation, according to a press release from the Cuban Parliament's International Relations Permanent Committee published in Granma daily on Saturday.
In the light of such a disaster in that nation, the humanistic spirit and solidarity of the international community must prevail, the note says.
The document calls for the urgent mobilization of all resources possible to contribute to palliating the serious and severe hardships that the Haitian people are suffering.
Our most sincere condolences to the Haitian parliamentarians, authorities and the relatives of the victims and the entire people in general, the press release says.
