Guanajay town in Havana's outskirts to host Cuban Rock Festival

The Hermanos Saiz Association is sponsoring the event along with the Antonio Maria Romero Music Institution, the A Rock Habana project, and the municipal and provincial Culture offices.
In addition to promoting rock music through concerts, lectures, discussions, music video screenings, and the sales of promotional music discs and specialized magazines, the 2010 Revolution Rock Festival also serve as venue for the assessment of the nation’s rock bands.
The academic part of the festival opens January 16, at 1:30 p.m with the participation of writers and collaborators from specialized magazines who will discuss the evolution of Cuban rock and its characteristics. Concerts by Cuban rock bands like Chlover, Congregation, Kill the fish, Estigma DC and Hot Zone begin Saturday night at 9 p.m. at the Guanajay Recreation Centre.
In addition, Cuban visual arts designer Abdusalan Teran will be presenting a performance entitled Instrumentos locos (Crazy instruments) and several painters of the Havana-based Hermanos Saiz Association will gather to create and restore murals
dedicated to rock and Cuban music in general.
