Cuba helps Guatemala to end illiteracy

The municipality is Cristobal Acasaguastlan, located in the central department of El Progreso.
About 550 people will receive their diplomas that they have now learnt to read and write with the Cuban program, Mayor Jeannete Ordoñez told Prensa Latina.
The official praised the labour of 30 Cuban advisors of this method in the country, which hardly lasted two months.
Coinciding with the 48th anniversary that Cuba was declared itself as a territory free of illiteracy, a date created as Teacher's Day, and the island's embassy held an important activity on December 22.
According to "Yo Si Puedo" coordinator in Guatemala Barbara Roque, the program has 30 advisors in 17 of 22 national departments.
