On Wednesday 20, at 4 p.m. in Papalote room there will be a show directed by Ruben Dario Salazar, dedicated to the centennial of the birth of the writer and poet Dora Alonso creator of Pelusín del Monte, Cuba's National Puppet, reported the Cuban News
Agency.
Reknown Artists such as Barbara Llanes, Spiral Dance, Children´s Orchestra of the group La Colmenita and actor Freddy Maragotto, will also celebrate the 20 years of the Council of the Performing Arts and of the Company led by Carlos Alberto Cremata.
The diplomas that credited the Villanueva awards are originals made by the artist Zenén Calero one of the most prominent designers of children´s theater in Cuba, also creator of the scenic design of the work Federico de Noche, awarded in this edition.
Matanzas, known worldwide as Athens of Cuba, was chosen for the fourth time to deliver the coveted Villanueva awards, given to the best national and international theater shows presented on the island during 2009.
This time the award, which pays tribute to the events of former theater Villanueva in Havana in the colonial period in the nineteenth century, was given to 14 performing groups from Cuba and other nations, among which highlighted El Mejunje, La
Colmenita y Las Estaciones.
